Good Egg Days 2014… the festivities are now just a day away.
We heard from event coordinator Shannon Behnken each of the past two days on Let’s Talk Guthrie County as she took us through the schedule of events, but today we hear from a different voice that will be heavily involved with activities on Saturday.
Stuart Fire Chief Mike Renslow says a fire safety house is being brought in to town Saturday afternoon and he encourages the public to check it out.
“They have seven of these in the state and we were lucky enough to get one of them for Good Egg Days. It’s basically a camper that has different rooms in it as if it were a real house. It shows all the fire hazards within a house and what to look for and watch out for to make sure that you’re safe.”
Renslow explains why he feels it is important for all area youth attending Good Egg Days this weekend to stop by the camper to learn about fire safety.
“It’s to hopefully make everyone aware… If this saves us one fire in the future, then it’s worth it.”
Renslow says the fire camper will be set up in Stuart thanks to the Indianola Fire Department. It will be located just to the west of our Raccoon Valley Radio station in Lawbaugh Park.
Stuart Fire’s dunk tank, snow cone stand and fire camper will be set up from about 1 to 3pm on Saturday.
