There’s a new addition to Adel’s annual Sweet Corn Festival this year and young girls are invited to take part.
The inaugural Sweet Corn Princess contest will take place on Friday, August 8th.
All girls that will start 2nd, 3rd or 4th grade this fall and live in the ADM school district are invited to participate.
A meeting and practice session will be held Wednesday that week and contestants will need to be to the Raccoon Valley Bank Community House by 5:45 the night of the event.
The contest will include an on-stage introduction and interview with the Master of Ceremonies.
The princess and her court will be chosen by random drawing, with the winners receiving crowns and cashes.
All contestants will also ride on the Corn Princess float in the Sweet Corn Festival parade Saturday morning.
