Local drought conditions improved this week according to the National Climatic Data Center.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows the majority Dallas County, with the exception of the extreme northwest corner and the southern three-quarters of Guthrie County now have no drought. The rest of Guthrie County and most of Greene County are now listed as abnormally dry and the northern portion of Greene County is in a moderate drought.
The only local precipitation lately fell last weekend when Perry received just over an inch of rain, Guthrie Center received 0.46 inch and Jefferson saw 0.42 inch.
Nearly halfway done with the month, Perry has had 2.8 inches total so far, just over two inches has fallen in Guthrie Center and 1.7 inches have been received in Jefferson.
All three areas typically see around 5 inches in June.
