baseballThe ADM baseball team has won six straight ballgames, and Coach Jason Book’s club really has things rolling.

The Tigers scored 25 runs on 19 hits in their two wins to end last week, and while the bats have seemingly come alive in a big way of late, Coach Book chalks his team’s success to this point up to something else.

“Of late, really it has been the timely hitting.  We’ve gotten runners on base and gotten big hits when we’ve needed them to score runs, and we didn’t do that early in the season.  Pitching has been really good and defense has been pretty good as well, but if I had to pick one thing, I’d say it’s our timely hitting.”

ADM is playing at awfully high level right now, but don’t think the Tigers six consecutive wins will lead to any complacency setting in.  Coach Book says there is still plenty for his boys to work on.

“We need to improve on everything–we’re not going to settle with where we’re at.  We’ve been really good in a lot of areas and just okay in a couple.  Our baserunning has slid off maybe just a little bit, and defensively we’ve made a few mistakes that have led to a few errors… not hitting cut-off guys, letting a fly ball drop in between us… we have little, simple mistakes that we can clean up.”

The Tigers have their single busiest stretch of the season starting this week, as they’ll play twelve games over the next thirteen days, including tonight at Ballard.

That game can be heard on our K107 airwaves, with first pitch scheduled for 7:30.
