Ten Greene County 4-H youth competed last week at the 4-H Communication contest in Jefferson.

County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Sarah Jo Reynolds says six 4-H’ers have qualified for the Iowa State Fair.

The six that have advanced include Arthur Bardole for his project on “Compost Piles”, Gwen Black on “Homemade Dog Treats- Peanut Butter Biscuits”, Lucas Fisher for his  “Poultry Breeds” project, Immanuel Jubell on his topic of “Firework Safety”, Lakota Larson did her project on “Progeria: Disease of Aging” and Jared Marshall exhibited his “My Poultry Project”.

In addition, Reynolds points out that both Bardole and Jubell not only qualified their working presentations, but they also qualified a 4-H poster to show at the Iowa State Fair.

Avery Bardole will be presenting his educational presentation on “Homemade Bird Feeders,” at the Clay County Fair in Spencer.

Other awards include Jamie Theulen who received a blue ribbon for his presentation on “Woodworking Safety”, Jaron Thompson received a blue ribbon for his presentation on, “Meet the Elephant” and Joe Thompson received a blue ribbon for his presentation on “Great Hammerhead Shark.”

Reynolds is very pleased with these results and adds that she is looking forward to those 4-H’ers who qualified for the state fair to do well.
