The recent rainfall this spring has improved the water level in the North Raccoon River in Jefferson, but its not close to flooding yet.
The United States Army Corp of Engineers reports that Jefferson’s flood stage on the river is 19-feet and it is currently at 11.6-feet with it raising a quarter-of-a-foot as of Friday afternoon.
Last year at this time, the North Raccoon River was closer to flooding with reports of the river reaching 16.48-feet following the May 2013 extreme amount of rainfall that flooded different parts of the county.
However, the Corp of Engineers latest readings, as of Friday, say that the next access point in Lanesboro in Carroll County reached its flooding stage of 15-feet with 16.66-feet of water.
The Raccoon River is closer to flooding stage in Bayard with 12.18-feet with the flooding stage set at 14-feet.

Jefferson’s location is a larger capacity to hold more water and the record flooding stage for the area happened in 1947 with a little over 22-feet.
