After their tax credit application for a project at the site of Perry’s old middle school failed to get enough points to be granted last year, Newbury Living is hoping a similar but different proposal will be more successful.
The company recently approached the City Council to explain their goal to build a multi-family residential complex in Perry, rather than the senior living facility they proposed before.
They believe this project will be more successful because it has less of an income restriction and a wider appeal than the stricter plan they presented before.
The City Council already approved the disposal of property for the previously proposed project but this new plan includes use of the whole block. As a result, a public hearing to discuss giving them the whole location has been set for the next regular Council meeting on July 21st.
