Pairings from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union for next month’s softball regional tournaments were released on Monday.
Greene County has been assigned to Class 3A Region 1 and opens play on Tuesday, July 8 at 7 p.m. vs. East Sac County on the Raiders’ home diamond in Wall Lake. The winner plays in Sergeant Bluff vs. Sergeant Bluff-Luton or Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) on Friday, July 11 at 7 p.m. One of the above mentioned teams will advance to the Monday, July 14 Region 1 final in Le Mars at 7:30 p.m. vs. either Sioux Center, MOC-Floyd Valley, OA-BCIG, or Cherokee.
Woodward-Granger has been assigned to Class 2A Region 6 and has a first round bye. The Hawks host either South Hamilton (Jewell) or Madrid on July 9 at 7 p.m. in Woodward. The winner faces either BCLUW (Conrad), Gladbrook-Reinbeck, or Hudson, on July 11 at 7 p.m. in Conrad. Other teams in Region 6 are Central Decatur (Leon), Pleasantville, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Colfax-Mingo, West Marshall (State Center), and CMB (Maxwell).
Panorama is in 2A Region 2 and the Panthers open at home in Panora vs. South Central Calhoun (Lake City) on July 8 at 7 p.m. The winner plays Ft. Dodge St. Edmond north of Ft. Dodge at Rogers Park on July 9 at 7 p.m. Other teams in Region 7 include Prairie Valley (Gowrie), Des Moines Christian, Ogden, Earlham, Van Meter, Audubon, IKM-Manning, Nodaway Valley (Greenfield), and Southwest Valley (Corning).
In 1A, Guthrie Center and Adair-Casey open play in Region 7 against each other in Guthrie Center on July 7 at 7 p.m. The winner goes to Martensdale on July 9 at 7 p.m. to meet Martensdale-St. Mary’s. Other teams in Region 7 include CAM (Anita), Orient-Macksburg, Griswold, Essex, Sidney, Fremont-Mills, East Mills, Nishnabotna, Stanton, and Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton.
The State Softball Tournament in all five classes is set for July 21-25 north of Ft. Dodge at Rogers Park.
