On Friday, the Science Center of Iowa came to Jefferson.
About 60 kids watched programs coordinator Richard Miles conduct various experiments and learn about different types of studies of science. The event relates to this year’s summer reading program, “Fizz. Boom. READ”.
Children’s Librarian Terry Clark explains why Friday’s visit was open to the public instead only for the summer reading participants.
“We’re so excited to be able to offer these programs because of the sponsorships of different community organizations, we’re able to do this for free enables a lot of people to come and enjoy the program. One of many programs we get to offer to the kids that they normally would not get to see. And they (summer reading participants) work so hard to earn these programs, that it’s just a nice bonus.”
The next free public event hosted by the Jefferson Library will be when Magician Jonathan May comes to the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson on July 21st at 1pm.
The events are sponsored by the Jefferson library and the Greene County Board of Supervisors.
