baseballWell ADM baseball fans, the proverbial second season begins tonight when the Tigers take on rival Dallas Center-Grimes to begin district postseason action.

Jason Book’s club just lost to the Mustangs a couple of nights ago but didn’t show many of the cards they plan to play this evening.

After beating DC-G handily back on June 12th, tonight’s ballgame will be the third and final battle between the Tigers and Mustangs this season, with the winner of the rubber match advancing to the second round of district play.

Tonight’s pitching matchup will feature a couple of junior right-handers, as ADM will send out Ethan Herron and DC-G will call on Cole Baker. Herron is 4-4 in his eight starts this season with a 4.10 ERA, while Baker is 6-4 in 10 starts with a 0.77 ERA.

As has been the case for much of the season, the Tigers’ will look to shortstop Grant Goeden to get things rolling early offensively tonight.  The senior is having a monster year, hitting a team-leading .425 entering tonight; he also leads ADM in total hits, triples, home runs, RBIs and stolen bases.

Meanwhile DC-G’s offense is propelled by senior Tyler Pierson–he leads his club with a .345 batting average coming into tonight.

If ADM is able to get past DC-G this evening, it’s more than likely they’ll take on Perry next Monday in the second round of district play.  The Bluejays take on lowly Bondurant-Farrar in their playoff opener tonight just prior to ADM and DC-G.
