Greene County’s baseball team is used to being on the road and used to playing the role of the underdog. They’ll get to do both tonight when Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams play number six Harlan Community in Harlan tonight in a Class 3A District 15 contest. Carroll High plays Denison-Schleswig in Harlan at 5 p.m. with the Rams and Cyclones to follow. The game can be heard on KG98 with air time at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Harlan is 22-8 overall and they won the Hawkeye 10 title with a 17-3 mark. Greene County is 11-14 and the Rams tied for fifth place in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference at 8-9. The Cyclones average 6.7 runs per game and have a team batting average of .333, while the Rams score at a 5.4 clip and have a team BA of .242. Harlan has 60 errors in 30 games and Greene County has 58 errors in 25 games. Brett Croghan has a 4-1 pitching record for the Cyclones with a 1.30 earned run average. Riah Nelsen is expected to start for the Rams. Nelsen has a 3-4 record and 2.08 ERA.

The winners of tonight’s two games are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday in Harlan.
