The Greene County Development Corporation Board recently approved to pay $50,000 toward Scranton Manufacturing’s expansion project.

One of the official duties for new board president Chris Nation, the Board approved committing $50,000 toward the 56,000-square foot expansion project to help with matching funds from a $250,000 grant by the Iowa Economic Development Authority.  The money was originally tied to a watershed improvement grant that fell through.

The Board agreed to give $50,000 over the next five years with payments to begin this fiscal year.

However, another part of the funds were to come from the Greene County Supervisors.  Earlier this month, the Supervisors didn’t allow for their $10,000 commitment to come from the Louis Dreyfus Funds, citing that those funds are typically used for non-profit projects.

The Supervisors all agreed that they would commit their part of the money with a source of funding to be decided at a later date.

Scranton Manufacturing started its project during its groundbreaking ceremony on June 25th.
