Greene County SheriffTwo traffic accidents in Greene County yesterday result in injuries.

Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 7:43am on Wednesday, a single vehicle accident happened on W Avenue just south of 220th Street.  19 year-old Elizabeth Ann Bane of Perry was traveling northbound on W Avenue when she lost control of her 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora and went into the west ditch.

Haupert states that she was later taken to the Dallas County Hospital by her father with an injury to her left arm.  Her current status is unknown at this time.  Haupert notes that Bane was wearing her seatbelt and her airbags deployed.

She was cited for failure to maintain control and her vehicle was a total loss.

Then at 4:26pm, two deputies, an Iowa State Trooper, the Jefferson Fire Department and the Greene County Emergency Medical Services responded to a two vehicle accident at the Hardin Creek Bridge just east of Jefferson.

Haupert says 31 year-old Gabriel Joseph Pape of Moorhead, Iowa was traveling west on US Highway 30 when he failed to stop at the stoplight in a construction zone and his semi-tractor trailer hit the rear end of a 1997 S-10 Chevrolet Pickup driven by 74-year old Rosemary Trucks of Jefferson.

Haupert points out that Trucks was taken to the Greene County Medical Center for minor head injuries.  The Chevrolet pickup was a total loss and minor damage was done to the semi-truck.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s office.
