The Lake Panorama Association has recently issued a notice to lake residents about the confusion surrounding the registration of non-powered watercrafts.

According to the LPA, all vessels meant to transport people on the water need to have an official boat permit.  The Iowa DNR requires state registrations for crafts such as kayaks, canoes and paddleboards that are 13 feet and longer.

Even if such crafts are under 13 feet in length, the LPA says it needs the color, make and model, including a serial number, if available.  This helps the LPA and LPA Security identify small vessels if they get blown away during a storm.
