Guthrie Co. Iowa DeputyThe 3rd Annual River Ruckus is in the books and from a law enforcement point-of-view, it went as well as could be expected.

Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says the biggest problems were the same from last year with public intoxication, minors in possession of alcohol and assaults.

He states that he had help from the Iowa State Patrol, the Juvenile Anti-Alcohol Task Force, the Carroll County Sheriff’s office and the Stuart Police Department worked with the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office during the three-day event.

Arganbright talks about just providing a presence is part of the battle when controlling large crowds of 15,000 people during River Ruckus.

“We can’t cover it all, but at least we’re there to make a visibility as far as trying to keep it down as much as we can and that’s why we’re there.  We’re there so that they have a good time but everyone stays safe.”

He adds that they caught about 25 juveniles per night and that the biggest obstacle is minors consuming and possessing alcohol.

Arganbright was happy with how one of the largest events of the year went and thanks all those involved for their help and dedication to making another River Ruckus a safe environment for everyone to enjoy.
