Greene County High School had two players named to All-State softball teams by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. Junior pitcher Marissa Promes was selected to the first team and junior shortstop Emily Christensen was on the second team.
Activities Director Dean Lansman commented on the Rams finishing in third place at last week’s Class 3A State Tournament north of Ft. Dodge, and on the all-state selections. “What a great way to culminate the end of the first year of Greene County athletics. With the reorganization becoming official on July 1 and then the softball team doing what they did, it was just tremendous. The team clicked at the right time. This also marks the second straight season the Rams have had both a first team and second team player. Marissa was a second team catcher last season and now is named a first team pitcher. Jennifer Kennedy was a first team selection last summer after her senior season and now shortstop Emily Christensen is named to the second team. We had a lot of girls very deserving of postseason honors and we’re extremely proud of them all.”
