There are spots available for the final Cooking Matters session to be held at the Fareway Food Store in Jefferson.
Greene County ISU Extension Coordinator Michael Cooley says food and nutrition specialist and registered dietitian Holly Van Heel will take participants on a guided tour of the grocery store and will show them how to buy fruits and vegetables on a budget, compare unit prices to find bargains, how to read and compare food labels, identifying whole grains and sticking to your budget.
He states that the course is open to anyone with no income guidelines or requirements to qualify.
At the end of the tour, participants will receive a free $10 gift card to purchase healthy groceries, a book of healthy recipes and a reusable grocery bag.
Cooley points out that this will be the final session unless there’s more interest from the public.
It will be a 1:30pm on Monday, August 4th. To reserve your spot, call 386-2138.
