summer book saleToday is the final day for anyone wishing to purchase books for the upcoming school year at the Jefferson Public Library.

The Friends of the Jefferson Library have been hosting a surprise book sale since July 14th.  President Barb Labate says they have children and adult books for sale ranging from $.25 to $3 per book.

A majority of the proceeds from the book sale will go back to the Friends of the Library to purchase equipment for the public to use and the rest will go back to the library itself.

Labate points out that their organization also hosts a membership and used book sale in the fall and newer events were their Christmas book sale in December and their extension of their spring sale in April.  She adds that they also help to support numerous activities for the library such as the youth summer reading program, the adult winter reading program, National Library Week and Halloween events, the library’s Bell Tower Festival parade float and Books for Babies which they partner with the Greene County Medical Center to help fund that program.

The July Surprise Summer Sale ends today and it is located at the entrance to the adult department during normal library hours from 1-8pm.
