AAI AND SPALDINGEveryone is invited to a free special event this weekend at the Greene County Historical Museum in Jefferson.

Historical Society Member Chuck Offenburger says in light of American Athletic Incorporated celebrating its 60th anniversary, founder Bill Sorenson will be coming back to highlight the beginnings of the company and its changes over the years.

The 1948 Jefferson graduate started making trampolines out of his garage and eventually production grew to such heights that he hired Larry Fie to become AAI’s president.

60 years later, its headquarters remains in Jefferson on US Highway 30 and is the largest supplier and manufacturer of equipment for competitive gymnastics.

This special event is what the president of the historical society Ces Brunow will be a continuing series highlighting thriving businesses in the county.

The free event will be at 2:30pm on Sunday, August 3rd at the museum in Jefferson with free refreshments to follow.
