Chief Deputy Jack Williams says the first accident involved two vehicles at the intersection of 310th Street and B Avenue, southwest of Scranton.

At 10:02am, 74 year-old Irene Scott of Carroll was traveling south on B Avenue when her 2010 Ford Fusion was hit by a 2006 Ford Escape driven by 37 year-old Shawn Degood of Coralville who was heading east on 310th Street.

Williams states that both vehicles were total losses and both were transported with minor injuries to St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital in Carroll by Greene County Emergency Medical Services with their current statuses unknown at this time.  Scott was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

Scranton Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.

The second accident occurred at 9:24pm when 35 year-old Alan Ferguson of Jefferson hit a 600-pound cow about one-half mile west of U Avenue on 230th Street just south of Grand Junction.  Ferguson’s 1988 Chevrolet pickup was reported to be a total loss with no injuries to Ferguson were reported.

Williams points out that if you see wandering cows on or by the roadway to contact the Law Enforcement Center in Jefferson at 386-2136 to report it.
