hwy 30 accidentA two vehicle accident in Greene County on Saturday resulted in heavy vehicle damage but no injuries.

Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 4:32pm, a deputy, the Jefferson Police and Fire departments and the Greene County Emergency Medical Services responded to a two vehicle accident on Highway 30 and S Avenue between Jefferson and Grand Junction.

Haupert states that 21 year-old Joe Matthew Davis of Perry was traveling eastbound on US Highway 30 when he slowed a 1999 International straight-line tanker truck to turn south onto S Avenue when he was rear-ended by a 2008 GMC pickup truck driven by 19 year-old Tyler Scott Alexander of Redfield.

Haupert notes that both vehicles are owned by Accujet Company LLC of Perry.  Alexander reportedly fell asleep which is what led him to hitting the tanker truck.

Both drivers were taken to the Greene County Medical Center as per CDL requirements for observation and were later released.  Both men were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Haupert adds that Alexander was cited for failure to maintain control and more citations may be issued pending completion of an investigation.
