The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn boys cross country team has strong numbers going into their season.

Head coach David Zwank says there are six returning letterwinners to this year’s boy’s team led by senior co-captains with Kyle Ferguson and Trevor Harsh.  The boys team has six seniors, one junior, four sophomores and four freshmen.  While the boys may have stronger numbers then the girls, Zwank notes that they are still young with most returners only having two years experience.

He adds that he’s pleased with the effort his co-captains put in this summer.

“Particularly over the summer, they were the most dedicated folks that we had do our summer workouts and balancing their other schedules that we never had so really very happy with that.”

Ferguson talks about his team’s and his personal goals for the season.

“For team goals, we’re trying to get top five in state qualifying, last year I think we got about sixth.  And then my personal goal, I’m trying to get all-conference and get under a 17:30.”

Zwank is also hoping for Harsh to have a great season and looks for him to improve by the end just like everyone else.

The first meet for the boys team is next Thursday, September 4th at Urbandale.
