marketing meetingA group of people met for a third time this summer to gather more information about a new marketing plan for Greene County.

Economic Development Director Ken Paxton says the group has already established its target demographic which are people ages 50-65 who like to travel and learn about historical events and landmarks.

Last week’s meeting determined the key selling points in hopes of attracting those types of people to the area and the group wanted to use the Mahanay Bell Tower as its most important item for the marketing plan.

Paxton explains why they wanted to use the Bell Tower as their focal point.

“There’s no one else around here or in the Midwest or maybe in the country that has a comparable facility like that and so we’ve got a point of differentiation like that, we’d be remiss not to use that as our main selling point.”

Now the next step is to decide how to channel the marketing plan to that target demographic.

The public is invited to the next meeting at the Sierra Community Theatre on Tuesday, September 16th at 7pm.  Paxton hopes to have the entire marketing plan finished by the beginning of 2015.
