The third annual Greene County Heros Dinner will be hosted by Jefferson Elks Lodge #2306 on the anniversary of 9/11.
Elks member Jerry Roberts says the event honors all Greene County veterans, guard and reserve personnel, firefighters, law enforcement, emergency medical teams and paramedics. This year’s featured speaker is Greene County native Major General Tim Orr, the Adjutant General of the Iowa National Guard.
Orr grew up in Grand Junction and has received several military awards including the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service, Army Commendation and Army Achievement medals.
The event begins at 6pm with a social time, followed by a free meal served by the Jefferson Does at 6:30pm. The singing of the National Anthem will be performed by the Greene County High School music department preceding the program at 7:15pm.
The evening will end with playing of taps by Wayne Lautner.
The event is by invitation only to all Greene County heroes and their spouses. Reservations are requested before Monday, September 8th by calling the Elks Lodge at 386-2106.
