Area youth are reminded about some upcoming deadlines for fall programs with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.

Director Vicky Lautner says their U6 Soccer League will be from September 15th through October 13th on Mondays from 5:30-6:30pm.  The program is designed to introduce children to soccer and show them the fundamentals of the sport through drills and games.  Shin guards are required to participate.  It is for anyone under the age of six as of July 31, 2014.  The program will be at Kelso Park and the deadline to sign up is by Friday, September 5th and there is a $20 fee.

Another fall favorite is flag football and this year, first through third graders can learn about the rules of the game, the fundamentals and learn how to play as a team.  It will be on Tuesdays from September 9th through the 30th from 5:30-6:30pm also at Kelso Park.  Mouthpieces are required to participate.  Lautner points out that the first meeting will be informational, but then the following dates will include actual games that follow at 15-minute instructional period.  The deadline to register for this program is by the end of the day today with a $20 fee.
