The Iowa Department of Transportation continues to make changes to school bus driver requirements, which isn’t helping districts like Perry that are in need of additional drivers.

Transportation Director Troy Griffith presented an update to the Perry School Board at their meeting Monday and as Superintendent Lynn Ubben says hauling such precious cargo is a job that takes a lot of different skills such as managing kids, and safe driving.

Currently, Griffith says they are down about four drivers in the district and he hopes to have at least a few on staff in the next couple weeks.
