Greene County turned the football over twice in the first game of the season, but have had no turnovers in the last two games. That pleases head coach Dean Lansman, who has seen his offense make slow, but steady progress in the first one-third of the season. “We are very pleased that the offense hasn’t turned the ball over at all the last two games. And, although our defense has just two takeaways, we scored touchdowns after both of those. We’re continuing to make progress on offense and our defense has played well in all three games.”

Coach Lansman figures the odds of winning go up as turnovers go down. The Rams had one center to quarterback snap that was dropped last Friday night, but no fumbles on handoffs or after being hit. Also, the Rams have lost just one fumble and have thrown just one pass interception through the first three games.

The Rams were 21-6 winners on Friday at Linduska Field over Algona to begin Class 3A District 2 action. The game marked the return to 3A after playing in Class 2A the past four seasons.

Next up is a non-district game at home in Jefferson vs. Creston/Orient-Macksburg. Coverage on KG98 begins on Sept. 19 at 6:45 p.m. with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
