The Perry Historic Preservation Commission invites everyone to the Violet Hill Cemetery this afternoon to learn more about some of the first health care providers in Perry.

The annual Cemetery Walk takes place tonight at 5:30pm.  Bob Wilson with the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce says it’s a unique event and one other communities are starting to model their own walks after, as he found during a recent talk in Rippey.

This year the group will portray Dr. Theo Johnson and Dr. L.A. Utterback, along with nurses Lila Commack and Darleen Nolan.

If you can’t attend tonight, there’s a second chance this weekend.  The final walk of the season takes place Saturday at 1pm.

There’s no cost to attend, though free will offerings are accepted to help support the event.
