The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.
The Supervisors approved the 2015 fiscal year contract for the Sheriff’s office 28E Agreement with the state for its tobacco enforcement and hiring Susan Cort as part time matron for female inmates at the Greene County Jail at a $10 per hour rate.
Supervisor Dawn Rudolph said she and a couple of other Supervisors attended last week’s fundraiser auction for the capital building project for the Greene County Fair Board. It was reported that the auction made over $110,000 and there were 154 people that were served for the meal.
Sheriff Steve Haupert discussed with the Supervisors about the courthouse security seminar that he attended last week at Camp Dodge. He said that it would be a major undertaking if the Supervisors decided they wanted the courthouse in Jefferson to be completely secured.
He noted that every entrance would need to be locked down and only one entrance would be accessible for the public in which there would be a full time security person stationed at that entrance and metal detectors would need to be installed. No decision was made by the Supervisors due to it only being a discussion and report item from the Sheriff.
