Homecoming week continues for the Panorama School District.
Student Council Vice-President Ethan Laughery says following an informal vote by the student body, they chose this year’s theme which is Hollywood Homecoming. He talks about why the students wanted this kind of theme.
“It’s pretty easy from that point to start planning because since Hollywood is a pretty big part of our culture and celebrities and everything, it was kind of easy to just brainstorm off of that.”
Each day of the week, students have been dressing up to fit that day’s “theme”. Monday was America Day where people dressed in red, white and blue, Tuesday was -ER day where students and staff wore clothes that resembled occupations that ended in “er”, Wednesday was class color day where every student from 6th-12th grades and staff wore a different color, Thursday is Hollywood day where people can dress as their favorite celebrity and Friday is school spirit day.
Tonight will be the crowning of the homecoming king and queen. Laughery notes that the coronation ceremony will be in the auditorium at 7:30pm and it is open to the public.
He talks about how excited everyone gets when the homecoming king and queen are announced.
“It is kind of the highlight of the homecoming week. It leads right up to the big (football) game. (I) don’t want to give away too many details, the skit and how we’re going to announce who the king and queen are, but we’re kind of thinking to go with the whole Hollywood theme again and it should be a lot of fun and pretty entertaining.”
Prior to the coronation ceremony will be a free-will donation spaghetti meal served in the cafeteria by the high school football team at 6pm.
The homecoming court includes: Katie Nelson, Kylie Arhensen, Anna Koch, Jade Cunningham, Hannah Appleseth, Hunter Mobley, Marcus Boldy, Aaron Jarnagin, Wilson Solorzano and Kole Steiner.
