Guthrie Center SignEveryone is invited to a special event in Guthrie Center this weekend.

Guthrie Center Chamber Board President Lonnie Carrick says the Harlem Ambassadors are a traveling basketball team that helps with fundraising events and they will be visiting the Guthrie Center High School gymnasium this Saturday, September 27th.

He states that the Harlem Ambassadors will play against the Hometown Heroes which are made up of several local leaders and community members from the area in a family-friendly, comedic basketball game.

Carrick points out that all the proceeds will go to helping to rebuild the Lion’s Club building on the Guthrie County Fairgrounds.  He talks about why the Chamber wants to help an organization like the Lion’s Club.

“The Lion’s Club at the Guthrie County Fair is their main drive for financial support.  And we just felt that there’s a great number of us that sit on the Chamber and on the Lion’s as well, so we wanted to put the proceeds to that to the continued growth and keep them lively in the community so that the future generations can take advantage of all the great things that the Lion’s Clubs do for us and other places as well.”

The game is at 6pm with a free-will donation dinner to begin at 5pm.  Tickets for the event can be purchased at State Farm Insurance or Guthrie County Bank in Guthrie Center or at the door.
