GC Music BannerThe Greene County Marching Band did well at this year’s Carroll Band Day on Saturday.

The High School band received a first place finish in Class 3A schools for parade marching in which the judges evaluate each band on their step precision, ranks and files and line spacing from one row to the next.

Director Becky Greiner says she’s very proud of how her students did this year in the parade competition and is especially happy with how the judge’s complimented them on their spacing.

“We’ve really have struggled with that and we’ve really worked on it prior to Saturday.  So I’m just thrilled that the things that we really concentrated on this year were recognized by the judges.”

Greiner points out another aspect of their performance was the timing of giving the judges an all band salute when they pass by them.

“Time our show so that we gave the whole band salute at one point and by golly finally we got it so it was absolutely perfect, just perfect timing that we’re able to all salute the judges at the same time and that was really good.”

Following the parade competition in the morning was the field performance in the afternoon.

The 72-member band performed their show “Aerodynamics” on a football which Greiner comments that everyone can see their full show at the next home football game for Greene County.

Overall, Greiner was pleased with the band’s only parade contest of the year and credits everyone’s hard work to achieve their goals.
