A good captain will go a long way in football. Perry is hoping their senior captains will provide the necessary leadership for their final two games after a heartbreaking loss to Greene County.
“The responsibilities are to keep everybody in line and to keep everybody focused,” said two time captain Will Whiton. “It’s up to us to provide the leadership and set the example for the whole team to follow. Whether its watching extra film or taking more reps on the practice field. It’s a big responsibility but we need to do it.”
Whiton and the Jays lost a heart breaker Friday night to Greene County as Ivan Garcia’s 41 yd field goall hit the cross bar and bounced back giving Greene County the three point win. Perry is now 3-4 but still controls their own playoff destiny with road trips to Webster City and Humboldt.
