The Greene County Economic Development Corporation Board met yesterday.
A number of board members were proposed to be voted on by next month’s meeting to continue their three year terms. The newest members will have their terms expire in 2017 and they include Norm Fandel, Mark Bauer, Sid Jones, Doug McDermott, Travis Warnke, Michael Cooley, Rick Morain, Jan Scharingson and Chris Conner.
The following members were also proposed as the officers for 2015 with the vote expected to be at next month’s meeting. They include Chris Nation as president, Sid Jones as vice-president, Jim Ober as treasurer and secretary, Jim Daubendiek and Norm Fandel as past-presidents, Guy Richardson representing the County Supervisors and Rick Morain as advisor of the group.
Economic Development Director Ken Paxton said they are communicating with director of Iowa Prison Industries and the warden of Rockwell City Prison to use their inmates for work release-type programs to help them build modular housing and do various rehabilitation apartment projects throughout the county.
Other information at the meeting were plans about making their west and north business parks more desirable for site selectors to locate their national businesses in the county and trying to get Greene County to be considered by the Iowa Department of Transportation to be a location for a statewide park and ride system. Lisa Jaskey was appointed as a board member for the county’s revolving loan fund with Region XII Council of Governments.
Midwest Partnership Executive Director Chad Schreck announced that he will resign his position effective October 31st to work with North Iowa Corridor.
