Gone are the days where libraries are places to simply borrow hard copy books, magazines, or even movies. In an attempt to modernize, library director Sandy Pollard says the Stuart Library now checks out eBooks to patrons that own their own eReaders, such as a Nook or a Kindle,  “We have something called WILBOR (West/Central Iowa Libraries Building Online Resources), a consortium of Iowa Libraries that makes eBooks available on loan to patrons.”

Also cost-free to patrons is an occupational study program, “It’s called Learning Express. It’s an online tutorial, you can sign into on our website. It has any test you can possibly imagine. For example if you want to be an air traffic controller, it has the pre-test for trying to become that. Everything from that, to tutorials on how to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.”

To find out more , Pollard advises that you visit the libraries’ website http://www.stuart.lib.ia.us/ .
