gas_pumpFor the first time this year, gas prices in Greene County are under $3 per gallon.

Mark Olsen, co-owner of Oly’s Corner in Jefferson says the stock market and the demand for fuel have been dropping as some of the reasons why the over price of gasoline has been falling.  People aren’t traveling as much between Labor Day and Thanksgiving and so fuel industry is trying to create excitement for traveling by lowering the gas prices.  Earlier this week, most of the gas stations in the county were reporting $2.92 per gallon of ethanol gasoline.

Olsen points out that last December was the last time fuel prices were under $3 per gallon in the county.  He personally thinks its great to have gas prices under $3 per gallon and hopes that people can take advantage of it.

Olsen anticipates the price is keep steadily dropping over the next couple of weeks while the demand is low and adds that he doesn’t know how much longer the falling prices will last.
