Greene County’s volleyball team plays at home for the first time in 34 days when the Rams close the regular season in Jefferson at the middle school gym tonight vs. non-conference opponent Perry. Coach Donna Carhill’s team slipped below the .500 mark at 13-16 on the season on Saturday by going 0-4 at the Johnston tournament against three Class 5A and one Class 4A program.

The Rams lost to Class 5A number two rated Ankeny Centennial 14-21, 5-21, before losing to 4A Bondurant-Farrar 21-17, 14-21, 10-15, and to 5A Marshalltown 18-21, 15-21, all in pool play. Greene County lost to 5A Ames in the consolation bracket 24-26, 25-22, 12-15.

After tonight’s regular season finale, the Rams open 3A regional tournament play on Oct. 27 in Nevada against the fifth ranked Cubs. If Nevada wins at home vs. North Polk (Alleman) tonight, they’ll wrap up a second straight Heart of Iowa Activities Conference title.
