In an effort to educate and energize the younger generations about the voting process, Iowa Secretary of State will be visiting Greene County High School later this week.
Current Secretary of State Matt Schultz will be promoting his “Rock Iowa” program with the goal to educate students about the voting process and when they become eligible to vote, then they will know how to exercise that right.
High School Principal Brian Phillips says getting younger people motivated to want to vote is great because its something that younger generations need to take advantage of when they become eligible voters.
“It’s always exciting to have a local politician show up and interact with kids and kind of get some energy on voting. As you know, as a nation, sometimes we have a hard time getting people to step up and vote and anytime you can get anybody to come in and talk to kids directly especially the Secretary of State and intermingle with kids and put an emphasis on voting, it’s just a wonderful opportunity for our kids.”
Schultz will be at the high school in Jefferson from 8:20-9:20am on Thursday, October 30th.
