Few things can erase the lingering feeling of a pedestrian finish to the regular season like a hard-fought sweep in the playoffs.

That’s exactly what the ADM Volleyball Tigers did Thursday night in Adel, dispatching the visiting Norwalk Tigers in three sets following a first-round bye.

The win puts ADM one win away from the state tournament. The Tigers take on Lewis Central at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Atlantic High School.

ADM looked like a well-oiled machine Thursday night despite not having played a match for a week. The most important thing the Tigers accomplished Thursday night was that every player filled their role, whether it be from a starter or bench player.

Freshman libero Jordan Hook had a phenomenal night with a game-high 40 digs, senior hitters Kari Dufoe and Abby Merschman held up their end of the bargain by leading the way in kills, while role players stepped up big. Junior Tania Teleford came off the bench to provide impressive serving while sophomore Brennan Hook provided a nice all-around game off the pine.

The consistent and team-wide effort is exactly what Tigers head coach Mary Beth Scott wants. She said her roster has reached the depth and versatility ADM needs to succeed at this time of year.

” I think we have everybody in the positions they need to be in,” Scott said. “I feel really confident in the group that we have and I think we’re ready to go. At this time of the year, it’s showtime. I think they’r e all focused and ready to go. I think they really enjoy each other and get along, and that helps with the success as well.”

We’ll have at the action from Atlantic on Tuesday night over K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
