The unofficial election results are in for Greene County.

Of the seven precincts reporting, there were 3,703 ballots cast of the 6,806 registered voters for a 54.41% voter turnout.

There were three contested county races for two County Supervisor seats and County Treasurer.

For Supervisor District #2, Greene County voters elected Republican incumbent Dawn Rudolph with 1,767 votes to Democrat challenger Kevin Fitzpatrick Sr. with 1,066 votes and Independent Shane Olson with 750 votes.

Rudolph talks about getting re-elected to serve her second term as Supervisor.

“I just want to say, Kevin (Fitzpatrick) and Shane (Olson) it was a good race.  I thank them for wanting to be involved and everything and I’m very happy, you know we’ve got a lot of things going on in the county.  There’s a lot of economic development and there’s just a lot of hoops to jump through yet in our growing stages and we’ll tackle those the best we can.”

District #3 Supervisor it was Republican incumbent Tom Contner defeating Democrat challenger Randy Monthei with 2,092 to 1,393 votes.  As for County Treasurer, it appears that Democrat incumbent Donna Lawson who has served as treasurer for 29 years, will served another term defeating Republican challenger Kristi Holz 2,368 votes to 1,229 votes.

Lawson says she’s grateful to serve another term as County Treasurer.

“I’m really excited about that other people still trust me and still want me to serve them for another term, I appreciate that and I thank them very much.”

 The other two county offices on the ballot were for County Recorder and Attorney.  Democrat incumbent Marcia Tasler looks to serve another term as recorder as she ran unopposed and received 2,834 votes of the 2,857 total votes.  Republican incumbent for County Attorney Nicola Martino also ran unopposed and received 2,333 of the 2,435 votes.

As for Iowa House District 47 Representative seat, Greene County voters chose Republican incumbent Chip Baltimore to serve his third term in the Iowa House defeating Democrat challenger Hans Erickson with 2,326 votes to 1,102 votes.

Republicans Terry Branstad and Kim Reynolds were re-elected as Governor and Lieutenant Governor respectively by the majority of Greene County voters with 2,292 votes defeating Democrat challengers Jack Hatch and Monica Vernon with 1,166 votes.

Other state offices that Greene County voters selected were Paul Pate for Secretary of State, Mary Mosiman for Auditor of the State, Michael Fitzgerald for State Treasurer, Tom Miller for Attorney General and Bill Northey for Secretary of Agriculture.

In the national races, Republican incumbent Steve King was re-elected with 2,108 votes defeating Democrat challenger Jim Mowrer with 1,485 votes for U.S. House District 4 and Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Joni Ernst was elected by Greene County voters over Democrat candidate Bruce Braley 2,063 to 1,367 votes.

Each township also had to elect a trustee and clerk.  Scott Walker was elected as Dawson Township Trustee and Becki Cunningham as clerk.  Franklin Township Trustee is Doug Lawton and Carla K. Offenburger is the clerk.  Peggy Semke was elected as Grant Township Trustee and Marvin Rasmussen as clerk.  Greenbrier Township’s trustee is Brent Badger and the clerk is Jo Anne Schnebly.  John McCormick is Highland Township Trustee and the clerk is Kimberle Kersey.  Jackson Township Trustee is Joshua Hedges and the clerk is Tom Lawton.  Tim Collogan is the Junction Township Trustee and the clerk is Jackie Gannon.  Dennis Paup is Kendrick Township Trustee and the clerk is Doris White.  Scranton Township Trustee is Glen Christensen and the clerk is Debra Fey.  Mary Ann Hick is the Washington Township Trustee and the clerk is Jean Borgeson.  Willow Township Trustee is Mike Carter and the clerk was a write-in.

Paton Mayor was also a write-in vote.  Paton’s available City Council seat goes to a write-in candidate.

Doug Hawn and Kim Bates were re-elected to serve on the County Public Hospital Trustee Board.  Bill Frederick and Andy Krieger were both re-elected to serve on the soil and water commission.  County Extension Council had five available seats and those went to Joe Gannon, Loel D. Larson, Marilyn Parker, Jacob Bohnet and Andrew McGinn while Pam Olerich was elected to finish out a vacancy position on the Extension Council.

As for judges results, Thomas N. Bower and Christopher McDonald will continue as appeals judges, Gary L. McMinimee, Michael J. Moon, William C. Ostlund, James C. Ellefson, Timothy J. Finn and James A. McGlynn as district judges and Adria Kester, James B. Malloy and Stephen A. Owen as associate judges.

Each city with the exception of Churdan passed its version of the Local Option Sales and Services Tax.

The Board of Supervisors are expected to conduct a canvass of votes at their next regular meeting on Monday, November 10th.
