The Greene County and Boone High School girls’ basketball teams will play in Boone on Nov. 18 in an Iowa Pride Challenge exhibition game. the Pride Challenge is a statewide voluntary community service initiative for high schools and middle schools in which participating teams choose a service project that is meaningful to students and the community. The scrimmage is a full four quarters with registered officials and admission may be charged. Schools are permitted to keep score, but it does not county on a team’s record.
Greene County head coach Chad Morton told Raccoon Valley Radio his team has chosen a community service project involving senior citizens. Ram players visit residents of long term care facilities in Jefferson prior to the holidays, bringing residents presents and spending time with them.
The regular season for the Greene County girls opens on Tuesday, Nov. 25 in Monroe vs. PCM in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference contest.
