The next marketing plan meeting for Greene County takes place tonight.

A steering committee has been hard at work coming up with ideas to attract more tourism to the county.

Economic Development Director Ken Paxton says the demographic that the committee is looking at marketing towards are people between the ages of 50-65 and like to travel and learn about historical information.  He states that their key selling point will be the Mahanay Bell Tower and will include video footage of other tourism assets.

Since their last meeting in October, Paxton points out that they’ve had two ad agencies present proposals to help them move forward to complete their marketing plan.  He talks about the decision they will need to make at their meeting tonight.

“We’ll do two things, one, we will pick an (ad) agency to move forward with and two, we’ll pick the key things and projects that they can help us with, such as logos, social media and those kinds of things.  And we’ll start putting those things together and begin moving forward with them.”

The two ad agencies are Blue Space and Buss Creative.  Paxton comments that they are also working in conjunction with Wild Rose Entertainment to help put together the marketing plan.

The meeting will be at 7pm in the lower level of the Sierra Community Theatre in Jefferson.

The goal is to have the marketing plan completed and ready to be unveiled at the start of next year.
