First-year ADM girls basketball head coach Corey Schneider told Raccoon Valley Radio one of his goals this season is for the team to finish over .500, which the Tigers haven’t done in several  years. That goal begins in earnest tonight in Adel, when opens the regular season against the Norwalk Warriors. First tip is at 7:30 p.m. from the North Gym.

ADM has a small but athletic roster with several capable scoring options. But Schneider cautioned against having inflated expectations for the offense, which he has described as a “work in progress.” ADM’s players are still learning Schneider’s unfamiliar motion offense, and Schneider said he’ll allow his girls to run more plays and systems they’re familiar with than new plays in the early-going.

To win, Schneider said ADM might have to muck it up a bit on the offensive side of the ball.

“There will be some, I’m sure early on, some pretty ugly games just implementing new systems,” he said. “But my goal is always to look ahead to February, and we want to be playing our best basketball come tournament time. And hopefully, if we’re playing good basketball the wins will kind of follow along with that.”

Our coverage of tonight’s season opener begins at 6:45 p.m. on KKRF 107.9 FM and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
