Led by six seniors, the Greene County High School girls’ basketball team is just one day away from officially opening the 2014-15 season. Coach Chad Morton’s Rams will travel to Monroe Tuesday night to face Class 3A preseason number 12 PCM. The Mustangs handled the Rams in both Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meetings last season, and Greene County is looking to pull an upset to begin this campaign. Senior Kayla Mobley was the Rams’ leading scorer and rebounder last season at 12.5 points and 7.2 rebounds. Senior Hannah Onken was second in both categories at 6.1 points and five rebounds. They are joined by fellow seniors Stacy Mears, Marissa Promes, Tress Rasmussen, and Jolee Wessling. There may be a couple of younger players seeing action as well, but Coach Morton expects to have a short bench and rely heavily on the seniors.

The Rams and Mustangs open with a JV game at 6 p.m. with the varsity game to follow. Coverage on KG98 is slated to begin around 7:15 p.m.
