Hy-Vee Incorporated donated bottled water to the citizens of Churdan in their time of need.

Raccoon Valley Radio previously reported on Monday that the Iowa Department of Natural Resources placed the City of Churdan under a bottled water advisory due to a water valve that was leaking when the City tried to hook up with Xenia Water.

Since then, Greene County Public Health and Emergency Management have gotten involved in the situation.  Emergency Management Coordinator Dennis Morlan says he called different vendors to notify them that there might be an influx of people needing bottled water from Churdan.

He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Lori Subbert, the store manager of Hy-Vee Drug Town in Jefferson, showed general concern for the welfare of the Churdan residents and made some calls and was able to get 167 cases of bottled water donated to the residents.

“On behalf of the citizens of Churdan and the Emergency Management Agency, I was deeply impressed with what Hy-Vee has done for our community and I want to make sure that we give them a big ‘thank you’”.

Morlan notes that the bottled water advisory will remain in effect until all water samples are completely clean of any contaminants.
