Carbon Monoxide is an odorless, tasteless killer given off by many heaters, and Guthrie and Adair County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf explains how you can protect yourself from the deadly gas this this winter, “Kersonene heaters and things like that give off Carbon Monoxide, and if your home, or room you’re using that in, isn’t properly ventilated, you can actually have a build-up of that gas, and given that it’s odorless or tasteless, it can happen without you even knowing it.”
Kempf advises every home to have a Carbon Monoxide detector, you can get them at any big box or hardware store for about twenty dollars.
