The Greene County Board of Supervisors held their weekly meeting yesterday.
At the meeting the Board heard from Bob Ausberger who provided a list of awarded Targeted Demonstration Watershed Projects submitted to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. He then invited the board to a meeting at the Natural Resources Conservation Service office on December 2nd.
The third and final reading of a proposed Local Option Sales and Services Tax ordinance was then unanimously approved, along with a $28,567 payment to Bob Brown Chevrolet for a new pickup truck for the conservation department.
The board then recessed so the Zoning Commission could hold a public hearing and make a recommendation in regards to a request from the NEW Cooperative. The Supervisors meeting then resumed and the board approved signing of E911 checks by the auditor.
A public hearing was then held in regards to NEW Cooperative’s request to reclassify a piece of land in Franklin Township from agricultural to industrial. They plan to set up an office and put up three 30,000 gallon anhydrous ammonia tanks at the site southwest of Cooper. Following no comments from the public, the Board accepted the zoning commission’s request to approve the request from NEW Cooperative and allow them to put up the anhydrous ammonia storage tanks.
Engineer Wade Weiss then reviewed his 2014 weed commissioner’s report, which was approved.
Terry Johnson then gave an update on Genesis Development, which included an introduction of job placement manager Kellie Eversole who spoke about employment services they offer and other Genesis programs.
The meeting adjourned at 10:35am.
