Monday, December 8th

A deputy was advised of a theft of scrap iron from a rural building site in the 1600 block of T Avenue.

A deputy checked an unoccupied vehicle that had experienced two flat tires on N Avenue and 210th Street.

A deputy checked an unoccupied vehicle that had ran out of gas on 240th Street and K Avenue. The owner was advised to have the pickup truck removed within 24 hours.

A deputy checked a vehicle that was off the roadway on N Avenue and 140th Street.  The vehicle owner advised the deputy that he had a towing service coming to remove the car.

A deputy was advised of a cow along the roadway on 235th Street near Q Avenue. The owner of the cow was advised and indicated that he would take care of the situation.

Tuesday, December 9th

A deputy was advised of a vehicle that had ran out of gas near Churdan. The deputy was not able to locate the vehicle upon his arrival.

A deputy was advised by a resident in the 300 block of Howard Street in Rippey of trespassing by unknown persons.

The animal control officer responded for the report of pigs along the roadway in the 900 block of N Avenue.

A deputy was dispatched to 190th Street and N Avenue for a single vehicle rollover accident. A 2004 Pontiac Grand AM GT that was being driven by Nolan Rocky Ford 15, of Rural Churdan, was northbound on N Avenue and attempted to turn left onto 190th Street, when he lost control and the vehicle it rolled into the north ditch. Nolan Ford and a passenger were not injured. The vehicle was determined to be a total loss and a citation for Failure to Maintain Control was issued to Ford.

Wednesday, December 10th

A deputy assisted several outside agencies with an investigation in Grand Junction.

A deputy assisted a Churdan water employee with the removal of a water meter from a residence in the 600 block of Dudley Street in Churdan

A deputy checked the report of a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of State Street in Scranton.

The animal control officer, while working in Churdan, was advised by a passerby of the strong odor of propane gas in or around a residence in the 200 block of Hills Street. The officer advised Greene County Dispatchers that he was going to close the valve on the propane tank in the backyard of the residence. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Churdan Fire and Rescue, Greene County EMS, Jefferson Fire Department, Alliant Energy and the Webster/Calhoun Telephone Company also responded to disconnect any possible electrical ignition point within the home and to determine if there was any buildup of harmful gases within the residence. After the electrical power was disconnected to the home, it was determined that the regulator valve on the outside tank had malfunctioned and was emitting propane and the interior of the residence was safe.

The animal control officer issued several citations to dog owners in Churdan that did not have their dogs registered and licensed with the city.

The animal control officer was advised of cattle out along the roadway in the 800 block of I Avenue.

A deputy was dispatched to the 1000 block of 190th Street to assist with cattle on the roadway. The owner of the cows and the deputy were able to put the cattle back into the field.

A deputy was dispatched to a car-deer accident that occurred on 237th Street just west of Kirkwood Ave. A 2003 Chevrolet Malibu LS being driven by Charles Franklin Heimer 48, of Jefferson was westbound on 237th Street when a deer ran onto the roadway and was struck by the Heimer vehicle. Charles Heimer was not injured but damage to his car was estimated to be $3500. A DNR salvage tag was issued to Heimer to possess the deer for consumption.

A deputy initiated a traffic stop on 220th Street for speeding and subsequently arrested Lisa Nicole Pierce 39, of Carroll, Iowa, for Driving While License Revoked, Speeding, Failure to Secure a Child, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Failure to Prove Security Against Liability. The Chief Deputy Sheriff and K-9 Leo assisted with the search of the vehicle.

The Chief Deputy Sheriff, K-9 Leo and a second Greene County Deputy assisted the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office with a search of a home in Lanesboro.

A deputy was not able to locate a reported vehicle that was driving erratic with a loud exhaust system in the 600 block of Hills Avenue in Churdan.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
