There’s a snow ordinance in Guthrie Center that says that if there’s two inches of snow and/or ice or accumulation, that any vehicles left on the street are subject to be towed, because there needs to be room for the snow plows to get through. At this week’s City Council meeting, there appeared to be some ambiguity of when that ordinance is supposed to be enacted, between the Streets Department, who was present at the meeting, and the Police Department, they were not present at the meeting. After more closely reading the ordinance, the City Council decided that from now on, the Streets Department, or any city official for that matter, has the power to enact the ordinance and have vehicles towed from the sides of the streets, if necessary.
