Jefferson Police BadgeAn Iowa woman faces a felony and several other charges following an investigation by the Jefferson Police Department.

According to the affidavit, on November 23rd, an officer responded to a call about a female that may have been involved in a traffic accident and was sitting with her parked vehicle at 305 West Greenewood Road.

Police Chief Dave Morlan says 26 year-old Sarah Rochelle Carlson of Early told the officer that she had been assaulted and left unconscious in a field in Jefferson after she was abducted from a local bar in Early the previous night.  She said she woke up with her hands bound with zip ties behind her back.  It had been raining that day and so the field she claimed to have awoken in was muddy.

During the officer’s inquires about the incident, Carlson said she received a hit to the back of her head.  However, the officer found no wound on her head, nor did he find any grass or mud stains on her clothes since it was a rainy day, the field she claimed to have been in was muddy.  The officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from her breath.  She agreed to take a breathalyzer test and blew a .289% blood alcohol level.

Carlson was taken to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services for evaluation and was released with no signs of injury.

Her 2000 Chevrolet Venture was taken to the Jefferson City Impound for evidence and some of her items were retrieved from the vehicle while Carlson was getting checked out at the hospital.

Carlson came back to the Law Enforcement Center on Thanksgiving to get her belongings and was questioned once again about the alleged incident on November 23rd.  She admitted that her original story about being assaulted and abducted wasn’t true and that she couldn’t remember most of that night or the next day due to being intoxicated.

As a result of the investigation, Carlson has been charged with a Class D Felony for their third offense for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, a serious misdemeanor for false report to a public safety entity and simple misdemeanors for driving with a suspended license and failure to have SR-22 Insurance.

Arrest warrants have been issued and once she is apprehended, she will be booked and released from the Greene County Jail.
